Lekki British School

ASSESSMENT

At Lekki British School, we have three main methods of assessment:

1. End of topic tests – short written tests to measure the grasp of the subject matter and some process skills.

2. Tutor assessment – carried out at intervals during the course to assess progress and developed skills.

3. Formal examinations – in each of the three school terms.

School examination results are clearly indicated on student reports, so parents are fully aware of their child’s progress. We conduct parent and teacher meetings at regular intervals during the school year to discuss student progress, student examination results and general academic performance.

For Years 7, 8 and 9 the school sets its own examination papers and schedule. In Year 9, students will sit the Key Stage 3 National Test papers set for the National Curriculum in England known as the Cambridge Checkpoint Examination. These papers will be in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.

National Curriculum Key Stage 4 begins at the start of Year 10 and culminates in external IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11.

The AS Levels will normally be sat at the end of Year 12. The Students will sit for the A2 Examinations at the end of Year 13. Regular Mock Examinations will be held throughout the A-Level Programme.
